Iris biometric access control solution implemented at Manchester Airport

Human Recognition Systems (HRS) has partnered with Manchester Airport and the Department for Transport (DfT) to implement the UK’s first Iris Biometric access control portal. The biometric access control system enables Manchester airport, one of the largest airports in the UK and which employees over 25,000 staff, to transit staff from airside to landside safely and securely. The solution incorporates single person volumetric access control portals combined with Iris recognition cameras, allowing staff access into restricted zones.

In an effort to streamline passenger security, Jakarta, Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport has opened the country’s first biometric immigration gate.

Fingerprint biometric identification provider BIO-key International, Inc. and Oakwell Engineering Limited partnered to create the new gate, designed for use by passengers with electronic passports. Passengers submit their e-passports and authenticate with a fingerprint.

AOptix Technologies has integrated its iris recognition system into 34 automated e-Gates at the Gatwick Airport South Terminal.
