Philippine government biometric voting system may be scraped
The House of Representatives of the Philippines may scrap the electronic voting system project former Speaker Jose de Venecia, after lawmakers discovered that the system failed in a recent dry run.
The test last month showed that the e-voting system failed to recognize the thumb prints of those whose data were inputted. Out of 50 prints submitted by House employees, the system recognized only 11. The system - which includes a biometrics machine and laptops for each of the 238 congressmen - was put in place in January during the term of de Venecia who was booted out early February by his colleagues. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/thirdfactor-4.gif)
