Accenture to team with Lockheed Martin on FBI’s biometric program

Accenture will be part of the Lockheed Martin team working on the FBI’s Next Generation Identification program, the company announced. Accenture has experience developing biometric identification systems for different governments, including its work for the US-VISIT program and its MiSense pilot at Heathrow Airport.

The NGI will replace the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, which uses fingerprint recognition exclusively, as the FBI’s primary biometric identification tool. NGI will feature a multi-modal system that incorporates not only fingerprint recognition but also newer biometric technologies such as facial recognition, iris scans and palm prints. [end] 

Biometrics firms Morpho and AOptix have formed a partnership to deploy advanced biometric systems targeted to border management and aviation security industries.

Under the terms of the partnership, AOptix products will be integrated into Morpho’s border management product line. This includes InSight Duo, AOptix’s combined face capture and iris recognition system.

The British Home Office has expanded its Biometric Residence Permit program to include more immigration categories.

The changes, which took effect on Feb. 29, make the biometric residence permits mandatory for anyone who’s applying to stay in the UK for more than six months, as well as those who apply for “indefinite leave to remain” status.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded Accenture Federal Services a 13-month, $71 million contract to add biometric modalities and other enhancements to the US-VISIT program. US-VISIT uses digital fingerprints and photographs. A pilot program included in the contract will test facial and iris voluntary identification enrollment and matching.
