New iris recognition software may make iris recognition more reliable

Friday, June 13, 2008 in News

Neurotechnology has added VeriEye iris recognition technology to its suite of biometric software. The new technology is expected to raise the reliability of current iris recognition technology as it has a different approach to detecting the iris.

While most technologies take the iris sample as a circle, VeriEye finds the boundaries of the iris allowing it to counteract obstructions, irregularities and deformations in the iris. The technology also is capable of correctly identifying irises even when the eye is looking away from the sensor. The VeriEye algorithm has a speed of 50,000 iris templates per second. [end]
