Chinese bank to utilize voice biometrics

Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in News

China Merchants Bank (CMB), one of China’s largest Banks, has selected FreeSpeech, a voice recognition technology from biometric developer PerSay, to use as biometric authentication over the phone for their customers. Once deployed, CMB will be the first bank in China to have biometric identification over the phone available to customers.

CMB is hoping the voice biometric system will improve customer service and lower costs by cutting hours spent manually authenticating customers over the phone. CMB also was the first bank in China to introduce e-banking. [end]
