Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in News

CryptoMetrics, a developer of biometric technology, has announced that they have entered into a 25-year agreement with the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Ministry of Interior. The agreement makes CryptoMetrics the sole provider of face-recognition systems that are intended to augment the current security of the UAE and other countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council and Middle East and North Africa regions with the capability of identifying individuals and known criminals.

According to Major Fawaz Badran al Qaraeen, from the UAE Ministry of Interior, CyptoMetrics was chosen due to its ability to outperform other products in a series of competitive trials. The news of the agreement between the company and country came shortly after CryptoMetrics announced a contract to deploy facial recognition technology at all ports of entry to the UAE, and following the July 14th installation of the technology at Abu Dhabi Airport making the airport the first to have wanted person detection technology based on facial biometrics. [end]
