Sarnoff to demo new iris technology at consortium
Sarnoff Corporation, a developer of iris imaging technology, will be demonstrating two new iris capture technologies at the Biometrics Consortium in Tampa, Fla. later this month. The two systems, called Drive-Through and Compact, are both designed to read the iris of a moving user from a distance without requiring them to stop and stare into a sensor and are part of the Iris on the Move series of systems offered by the company.
The Drive-Through system is designed to be used at vehicle check points and would not require the driver exit the car to have his iris scanned. Due to its Pan-Tilt-Zoom technology it is able to perform this function on all vehicles despite the size. T
he Compact device is designed as a low-cost and smaller version of the technology making it an ideal option when space is an issue. While the Drive-Through technology is being marketed as a solution for border checkpoints and sensitive government locations, the Compact technology is being directed towards use in places such as ATMs, airport check-in counters and DMV registration desks. The Drive-Through technology is capable of reading irises at speeds of up to 30 people per minute, while the compact operates at 12 people per minute. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/thirdfactor-4.gif)
