Dept. of Justice extends grant for IBG operating center of excellence

Thursday, September 18, 2008 in News

The International Biometric Group, a firm that conducts independent research, consulting, and systems integration, has had its grant for operating the Biometric Technologies Center of Excellence extended by the U.S. Department of Justice. The extension accounts for an extra year and sees the total grant increased to $5 million.

The reason behind the U.S. Department of Justice supporting the center is due to the service it provides to local and state criminal justice agencies. The center’s hope is to have more new biometric technologies in use and helps with that by giving the agencies access to experts in the field, help identify specific needs of the agencies that existing technology could solve and field testing technologies. [end]
