GEICO Federal Credit Union headquarters has implemented biometric solutions from US Biometrics, called AccessQ, in an effort to establish better secure entrances. Additionally, GEICO is planning on using US Biometrics’ suite of desktop security software, called CentralQ, to comply with NCUA security standards.

AccessQ and CentralQ will help control and monitor access points using fingerprint biometrics throughout the building as well as use of applications and devices in the building.

PhoneFactor boosts client roster with four new banks

PhoneFactor Inc. continues to grow its financial services roster announcing additions to its most recent clientele: Heartland Financial USA, OceanFirst Bank, Northway Bank, and CUANY Credit Union. The PhoneFactor solutions have been utilized by financial institutions as a way to protect customers using e-banking from online fraud. Additionally the PhoneFactor technology can authenticate bank employees for remote logins.

Hospital taps DigitalPersona for security solution

DigitalPersona has announced it has been selected by Memorial Hospital of Union County in Ohio for a biometric solution to help it meet Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements for securing electronic forms of patient records.

New Zealand implements biometric checks at ports of entry

New Zealand, in conjunction with the Australian government, has begun utilizing fingerprint biometric checks of immigrants entering the country in an effort to improve border security and curb identity fraud, according to a TVNZ article.

RF IDeas launches reader for physical access control

RF IDeas has announced the release of its new pcProx Enroll reader for physical access control.

According to RF IDeas, the reader is compatible with more than 300 million physical access proximity cards, allowing employees to use their building access card for other forms of identification and security throughout the workplace.

United Nations credit union first U.S. EMV issuer

Merill B. Halpern, manager of card services at the United Nations Federal Credit Union, talks about the organization’s decision to deploy EMV cards to its members. With more than 4,000 members outside the U.S. the credit union had to do something to accommodate those customers living in areas where EMV is used.

M2SYS partners with Boriana

M2SYS Technology, a developer of biometric technology solutions, has announced it has reached a partnership agreement with Boriana Ltd. that will see Boriana distributing M2SyS technology.
