Experts form group to study identity management problems and solutions
A group of scholars, professionals, and government representatives have come together to help take on issues dealing with identity management in areas such as cybercrime, terrorism, and narcotics trafficking, according to a Tech World article.
The group, known as the Center for Applied Identity Management Research (CAIMR), was founded by high ranking members from IBM, LexisNexis, Indiana University, Cogent Systems, Visa, Intersections and the Secret Service, but also includes a number of other participants from a variety of industries.
The organization, which will be headquartered at Indiana University, combines expertise from criminal justice, financial crime, biometrics, cybercrime and cyberdefense, data protection, homeland security and national defense.
Intending to help pointedly address specific problems and help find viable solutions in these areas the group has set out four initial areas of study: public safety concerns such as cybercrimes and fraud; national security concerns such as cybersecurity, immigration and terrorist trafficking; financial security such as financial fraud, insider threats and data breaches; and individual protection such as identity theft.
