Lumidigm teams with Methode for transportation biometrics

Lumidigm, a developer of biometric technologies, is teaming up with Methode Electronics, a developer of electro-mechanical technologies, to deliver biometrics to vehicles. Largely, the partnership is depending on Lumidigm’s experience with biometrics while utilizing Methode’s knowledge of automotive designs and experience with vehicle technologies.

Methode will be demonstrating the new technology the joint effort has developed in its Mobile Technology and Design Center in the Transportation Electronics Expo Convergence in Detroit later this month. [end]

AuthenTec, a developer of biometric technologies, has announced the release of a consumer-level software suite for biometric security on PCs and netbooks. The suite, called TrueSuite PC, works with fingerprint biometrics and is designed to increase the ease of use, convenience and personalization when using fingerprint biometrics on a computer.

Biometric access control system RAPIDGate from biometrics developer Eid Passport has received certification from the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process for the Marine Corps Enterprise Network, the standard certification that is required of information systems for use by the Department of Defense (DOD) and its military operations. Eid designed RAPIDGate as an enterprise access control solution for military and government facilities.

The redesigned UK passport has been released and features improved security features and iconic images from across the country.

The new 10-year passport will start being issued in October, with pages of the passport containing well-known UK scenes, including the White Cliffs of Dover, the Gower Peninsula, Ben Nevis and the Giant’s Causeway.

The Turkey Foreign Ministry has announced biometric passport administration is expected to begin in the country starting on June 1 with Turkish citizens being allowed to being applying for the new documents starting on May 23, according to a Today’s Zaman article.
