Meridian taps FaceKey for biometric solution

Thursday, March 26, 2009

FaceKey, a developer of biometric technologies specializing in fingerprint and facial recognition, has announced that they have been selected by nursing home Meridian Care to provide San Antonio homes with FaceKey’s EntryGuard time and attendance employee tracking system.

EntryGuard is the fingerprint recognition system that will be replacing Meridian’s existing time clock system.

In addition to replacing the time clock for Meridian, EntryGuard is expected to reduce costs through automating payroll, reducing clerical input and ensuring accurate time records for employees. Down the line, Meridian will also be able to utilize the FaceKey system to help meet the HIPAA requirements by biometrically securing patient record access and medications. [end]

Biometric Signature ID (BSI) announced positive results from a study of their software-only approach to biometric authentication for students using PCs. The new solution utilizes gesture biometrics via a user’s mouse and is envisioned to provide distance-learning students a more effective and secure means of accessing personal student files, discussion groups and other private areas of school networks.
