BIO-key International, a biometric technology developer, announced that it has been awarded a contract from the Federal Probation and Pretrial Services (FPPS) Office under the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. The contract will see the FPPS provided with BIO-key’s WEB-key fingerprint sensor platform to be integrated into identity verification kiosks.

The system will be used as a means of identifying individuals, usually defendants and offenders, arriving at the buildings. The new system is expected to streamline the identity verification and enrollment processes which last year saw over 349,000 filings.
