AuthenTec receives ISO certification

AuthenTec, a developer of biometric technology, has announced that they have achieved 9001:2008 certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The certification means that their company’s products have met a certain level of quality in development and design and that their processes have met a certain level of standards set forth by the ISO. [end] 

AuthenTec, a developer of fingerprint and other biometric solutions, has announced its rejection of a bid by fellow biometrics developer UPEK for a merger, according to an Orlando Sentinel article. Officials from AuthenTec called the unsolicited proposed deal, which would have required the replacement of AuthenTec’s entire board of directors, “a highly dilutive and speculative transaction.”

Technology developer CSC’s Test Lab, a laboratory that works towards developing biometric and other identity management solutions, has been awarded a International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission certification from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, according to a UPI article.

AuthenTec has announced the availability of a new software development kit (SDK) that is designed to assist developers in creating applications for use with AuthenTec TruePrint sensors and AuthenTec’s TrueSuite identity management software. The SDK, called TrueAPI SDK, is also designed to help developers modify their existing applications to work AuthenTec’s hardware and software solutions.

Suprema, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced that its RealScan-F palm print scanner has received certification from the FBI for the agency’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System Image Quality Specification Appendix F standards. The certification is a big help to the scanner as it is required if it is to be used by the FBI and many other government agencies.
