RAPIDGate receives DOD certification

Biometric access control system RAPIDGate from biometrics developer Eid Passport has received certification from the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process for the Marine Corps Enterprise Network, the standard certification that is required of information systems for use by the Department of Defense (DOD) and its military operations. Eid designed RAPIDGate as an enterprise access control solution for military and government facilities.

The RAPIDGate’s capabilities include biometric identity authentication with background screening, credentialing, entry authorization verification and personnel, vendor, contractor, service provider and visitor reporting. [end] 

Oracle Corporation has announced that its latest Java Card 3.0.4 platform will include support for NFC to enable secure communication between devices, reports Hothardware.com.

According to Oracle, Java Card enables smart cards and other devices with very limited memory to run small applications, called applets, that employ Java technology. Almost any type of smart card can use Java Card technology, including SIM cards, bank cards, government and health care IDs, smart transit tickets and physical and logical access control credentials.

HID Global demonstrated its PKI at the door solution that leverages existing physical access control infrastructures at the Smart Card Alliance Government Conference. Comtech Mobile Datacom has received an order totaling $1.4 million under its movement tracking system contract with the U.S. Army.

The order is in Phase II of an ongoing effort to complete migration of all RFID processes to the new international standard ISO/IEC 18000-7. It encompasses modifications to the platform’s application program, network and other interfaces.

The redesigned UK passport has been released and features improved security features and iconic images from across the country.

The new 10-year passport will start being issued in October, with pages of the passport containing well-known UK scenes, including the White Cliffs of Dover, the Gower Peninsula, Ben Nevis and the Giant’s Causeway.
