Minnesota to employ BIO-key solution for criminal charging

Thursday, May 21, 2009

BIO-key International, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced that they have been selected by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to supply the Minnesota counties with a biometric solution for moving the state to a paperless criminal charging system. The new system from BIO-key will be utilizing their WEB-key fingerprint identification software and should cut down criminal charging times from as much as a day to roughly thirty minutes.

The system, which has already been installed in one county in Minnesota, is expected to have full implementation across the state by the end of the summer. So far the early users of the system, including both judges and police officers, have praised its ability to cut processing time down significantly. [end]
