New biometric system utilizes 3G technology

Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies and Human Recognition Systems, a developer of biometric-based and other security technologies, has developed a biometric access control system that is controlled via VPN software on a 3G phone network, according to a Security Park article.

The new technology was developed as a solution for a housing refurbishment project that had a main compound located two miles away from an area that needed to be administered on the same biometric system.


In addition to the 3G technology offering remote operations, technical support can also be administered via a remote access link. The systems utilize hand geometry for access control as they are ideal for working with the poor samples and environment involved in construction.

SmartMetric, a developer of portable biometric solutions, has announced that its biometric activated data card can now be used to contain full medical history and health records on the individual. The card, called the SmartMetric Data Card, is a standard sized card that has the capability of holding multiple pages of data as well as being inaccessible without the holder first scanning his fingerprint on the card itself.

Legiant has announced a partnership with biometric technology developer Fulcrum Biometrics that yielded a low-cost biometric time and attendance tracking solution for employers. The new solution is called FbF Timeclock and utilizes a virtual time clock that an employee clocks in or out via a USB fingerprint scanner connected to a computer and integrates with Legiant’s Timecard software.

ClearStar Logistics, a developer of employee and tenant screening solutions, has partnered with biometric developer Advanced Livescan Technologies for a biometric-based capture and criminal history screening solution. The new system, which integrates ClearStar.net screening technology with Livescan’s E-VeriTech SOLO, utilizes fingerprint biometrics to search the National Criminal History Record Search database.
