Credit union implements biometric system

The Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union, a credit union headquartered in Austin, Texas, has implemented a biometric access control solution provided by biometrics developer US Biometrics. AccessQ will provide control over various entrances at the facility requiring fingerprint samples for authorization. Officials from the Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union are als invetigating using biometrics for access to secure computer networks as well. [end] 

PhoneFactor Inc. continues to grow its financial services roster announcing additions to its most recent clientele: Heartland Financial USA, OceanFirst Bank, Northway Bank, and CUANY Credit Union. The PhoneFactor solutions have been utilized by financial institutions as a way to protect customers using e-banking from online fraud. Additionally the PhoneFactor technology can authenticate bank employees for remote logins.

SmartMetric, a developer of portable biometric solutions, has announced that its biometric activated data card can now be used to contain full medical history and health records on the individual. The card, called the SmartMetric Data Card, is a standard sized card that has the capability of holding multiple pages of data as well as being inaccessible without the holder first scanning his fingerprint on the card itself.
