CoreStreet, Senture participating in TWIC test

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

CoreStreet, a provider of credential validation solutions, and Senture Security Solutions LLC, a security solutions integrator, announced that the Passenger Vessel Association selected them to provide the Transportation Worker Identification Credential handheld solution for Watermark Cruise’s participation in the Transportation Security Administration’s TWIC card reader pilot test.

The TWIC Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking card readers was issued on March 26. As required by Section 104 of the SAFE Port Act, the card reader pilot test will help inform the requirements of the pending TWIC second phase rule related to TWIC readers and local TWIC access control requirements.

Senture selected the CoreStreet PIVMAN software solution running on the DAP CE3240B handheld reader for the Passenger Vessel Association. The CoreStreet PIVMAN for TWIC Solution enables TSA-approved mobile devices to verify the identity of TWIC card holders.

CoreStreet Enabled TWIC readers are synchronized with the source for this information, the TSA TWIC hotlist. By having this secured data resident on mobile devices, roving operators have the ability to determine if the TWIC credential is still valid [end]

Multimodal biometric security provider ImageWare Systems Inc. has released version 2.0 of its Biometric Engine (BE) physical security identification product.

This product is designed for airports, seaports and other critical points-of-access for government and private enterprises. This update takes into account the SAFE Port Act, which requires foreign shippers to secure cargo being shipped to the U.S. and ensure the identity of those loading it. Shippers must manage this by 2013.
