Lockheed completes portion of FBI project

Lockheed Martin, a developer of various security technologies, has successfully completed the critical design review for a biometrics system being designed for the FBI as part of their Next Generation Identification Program (NGI). The fingerprint technology being incorporated into the NGI system is being provided by biometrics developer MorphoTrak.

Lockheed has been working on the fingerprint identification portion of the FBI’s eventual system, however, the final system will be multimodal, include multiple biometric modalities. In addition to the planned biometric capabilities, the NGI system is expected to have room left for significant upgrades to existing infrastructure as well as additions of other modes of biometrics as they become more useful to the FBI. [end]

ADR monitors workforce via RFID at government project in Arlington, Virginia

ADR Software was tapped for its Workforce Monitor construction site labor monitoring service at a large scale government facility improvement project in Arlington, Va.

The system logged nearly 2,300 workers from over 181 companies using ADR Software’s advanced RFID-enabled monitoring stations. Workforce Monitor utilizes RFID tags, embedded in stickers affixed to hard hats and ID badges to monitor workforce traffic, while producing daily workforce reports on specific sub-contractor resources and hours throughout time spent on site.

Russian government delays universal card project

Russia has pushed back the launch of its universal eID card to January 2013, reports The Moscow Times.

Originally scheduled to roll out this month, the card is supposed to function as an electronic ID, driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, ATM card and immigration document, along with other possible features.

Maine college's OneCard goes off campus

The OneCard from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, can now be used at three off-campus restaurants with more merchants set to join.
