The New Zealand government has passed the Immigration Act designed to increase border security while also streamlining its immigration services, according to a Voxy article. Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman reported being pleased as the past immigration legislation had become fairly defunct overtime and required various changes to reflect modern technology.
Among the many changes is the addition of using biometrics in immigration services in New Zealand. Officials are confident that the new act, which should come into effect within roughly a year to a year and a half, will be successful in both improving its border security while also assisting immigration in a way that is still fair to both present and future immigrants of the country.
