DigitalPersona seeing success in hospitals

DigitalPersona, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced that its customer Picis, developer of health care information systems solutions, has reported success with its Picis ED PulseCheck Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) that uses DigitalPersona’s U.are.U fingerprint readers. The PulseCheck EDIS system is a solution that enables emergency room personnel to quickly access patient records without having to remember a password or ID card for authentication.

Since adding DigitalPersona’s U.are.U technology to their solution, Picis has reported implementing their system in more than 150 North American hospitals. [end] 

DigitalPersona has announced the release of new biometric solution for digital access management, data protection and communication security.

The solution, called DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise, is capable of full disk encryption, two-factor virtual private network authentication utilizing biometrics and smart cards, fingerprint biometrics, is integrated with Microsoft Active Directory and can all be managed from a central system.

DigitalPersona has announced that wireless retailer Prime Communications has implemented DigitalPersona’s U.are.U fingerprint solution in an effort to reduce payroll fraud. The solution from DigitalPersona is combined with retail management software called RQ4 developed by iQmetrix and is expected by Prime officials to help reduce labor costs through more reliable punch times and eliminating buddy-punching.

The Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio, Texas has implemented an RFID-based asset tracking software in five of its hospitals, according to Health Data Management.

Summit Health, Pa. has implemented the SyncSeer asset tracking and temperature monitoring solution from Versatile Systems, Inc. at its Waynesboro and Chambersburg hospitals.

The SyncSeer incorporates both wired and wireless temperature probes and tags to automate previously manual processes. Summit Health will use the system to meet regulatory compliance while allowing staff additional time to focus on patient care.

ClearCount Medical Solutions, a Pittsburgh-based provider of patient safety products for the operating room, has closed its $5 million series B financing round.

The company intends to use the funds to further research and development of its RFID-based solutions for operating rooms. ClearCount has already developed the first FDA-cleared sponge counting and detection solution.

DigitalPersona has announced it has been selected by Memorial Hospital of Union County in Ohio for a biometric solution to help it meet Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements for securing electronic forms of patient records.
