UK increases biometric enrollment facilities

The UK Border Agency has announced the opening of 17 new biometric enrollment facilities at post offices for its program where foreign nationals submit biometric information to receive ID cards, according to a TMC Net article. The samples required from the migrants for the ID application include fingerprints and a digital photograph.


The new facilities located in the post offices offers more than twice the options migrants previously had when the only option for applications was to visit one of the 11 Home Office centers. Although the application process for the program that is setup to curb illegal immigration and working in the UK is designed for walk-ins rather than appointments, it is only open to those who have received an invitation to the program.
