NDIA conference to address presidential challenge

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Following President Obama’s challenge to “find the needle in the haystack” in reference to shortcomings of intelligence regarding the Christmas bomber, the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) 2010 Biometrics Conference in Arlington, Virginia, Jan. 20 - 21, will focus on improving homeland security at ports of entry.

The president’s challenge, called Homeland Presidential Directive 24, directs the creation of a framework for biometric and biographical information to work in a network of networks providing the information necessary to take on suspected terrorists.

Assisting in this venture will be a number of presenters proficient on such subjects including people from the White House, Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, the Department of Defense, the New York Police Department and representatives from Mexico, Australia, Canada and Pakistan.

The specific outcome being hoped for from the conference is a better way to connect the dots between intelligence and actually detaining of suspected terrorists. [end]
