PhoneFactor announces new voice authentication service

PhoneFactor, a developer of telephone-based user authentication products and services, is expected to release an over-the-phone biometric voice authentication service intended to increase security for phone based operations, according to a Dark Reading article. The service works by prompting a user to vocally provide his passphrase that is matched with a voiceprint to authenticate the user.


The service is aimed mostly at financial services and government as an additional layer of security since personal and sensitive information may be discussed over the phone. For an organization with 5,000 to 10,000 users, the service costs between $15 and $30 per user.
