AOptix chosen for Microsoft Center security solution

AOptix Technologies, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced that they have been chosen by software developer Microsoft to provide a biometric access control solution to Microsoft’s Global Security Operations Center in Redmond, Wash., according to a Trading Markets article.

The system from Aoptix being used is their InSight iris scanning system that can scan an individual’s iris from up to two meters away, automatically detect the iris on the person’s face and authenticate an their identity in two seconds. Microsoft officials have reported the new technology will upgrade the security for the center.

AOptix Technologies announced that SITA, a specialist in air transport communications and information technology, has joined the AOptix Value Added Reseller program.

Under the partnership, SITA, who has customers in more than 200 countries which includes 300 airport locations, would be able to offer its customers AOptix solutions. These offerings include the InSight iris and face recognition product as an automated solution for airports to quickly and securely identify passengers at security checkpoints with documents such as biometric-enabled passports.

AOptix Technologies has integrated its iris recognition system into 34 automated e-Gates at the Gatwick Airport South Terminal.
