MaxID announces sale of handheld readers

Friday, June 25, 2010

MaxID has announced it has sold handheld Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) biometric readers and related software to the Gloucester Police Department in Massachusetts. The reader, called the iDL500, was developed for use with software called PIVMAN from CoreStreet, a developer of credential authentication solutions.

While the solution was first and foremost intended as a way to better authenticate users of TWIC cards, it is also capable of authenticating individuals via their biometrics on passports or driver’s licenses as the device carries both contact and contactless card reading capabilities. Officials from the Gloucester Police Department are praising the new solution for its powerful authentication capabilities and its portability. [end]
