MedAssets joins HT Systems to market biometric system

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

MedAssets, a health care financial management company, has partnered with HT Systems, a developer of health care technology, to jointly market HT Systems’ PatientSecure biometric-based patient identity management system.

PatientSecure works as a vascular scanner authenticating patients identities at the point of care by scanning the unique vein pattern in the palm of his hand and enables a caregiver access to a patient’s medical records and any other pertinent data while also ensuring that the caregiver is working from the correct files.

Other benefits the two companies are touting of the PatientSecure system are the ability to properly identify patients should they arrive to a care center unconscious, elimination of duplicate medical records, easing and accelerating registration of patients and a reduction in frauds such as insurance fraud or identity theft as patient data is linked to a biometric profile. [end]

Resolute Health, based in New Braunfels, Texas, has launched a health security smart card to facilitate patient registration.

Resolute contracted with LifeMed ID to implement the SecureReg Patient Identity Management System. With the Resolute Health BeneFIT smart card, a patient can check into either the Resolute Health Center for Wellbeing or the Resolute Health Family Urgent Care Center and be accurately identified.
