Wave of acquisitions adds missing pieces to key players

A pruning back of industry players has been under way in recent months, as three key companies in the biometrics and identity space have given in to acquisition deals.

Within a period of a month and a half, L-1 Identity Solutions was acquired by Safran, L-1 competitor Cogent Systems was picked up by 3M and HID Global’s parent company Assa Abloy announced plans to buy ActivIdentity.

ImageWare enhances identity management biometrics for points-of-access

Multimodal biometric security provider ImageWare Systems Inc. has released version 2.0 of its Biometric Engine (BE) physical security identification product.

This product is designed for airports, seaports and other critical points-of-access for government and private enterprises. New partnership makes biometric finger vein scanner available in U.S.

In order to release its H1Biometric Finger Vein scanner to the U.S. market, Hitachi Europe Ltd. has signed a strategic partnership with M2SYS, making the company Hitachi’s primary Value Added Reseller for this product in North America.
