PICS Smartcard signs deal to distribute Orcanthus fingerprint readers

PICS Smartcard, a provider of smart card, biometric and single sign-on solutions, has announced it has signed an agreement with Orcanthus France to distribute its fingerprint readers to Canada with additional distribution rights for the U.S.

The line of fingerprint readers PICS will be distributing to its clientele were developed by id3 Semiconductors and tested at the top of the NIST MINEX tests with the lowest error rate out of twenty similar products. [end] 

Hooters Restaurants has implemented biometric fingerprint readers as a means to prevent loss in transaction and payroll fraud at the restaurant level.

Hooters contracted with DigitalPersona Inc. to install the provider’s U.are.U fingerprint readers with ITWercs Point-of-Sale software in restaurant units. Hooters employees use the readers to authenticate transactions and clock in and out for shifts.
