New biometric time clock offers audio and video capabilities

Acumen Data Systems, a developer of workforce management and business automation solutions, has announced the development of a new biometric time and attendance system with a variety of capabilities and uses.

The time clock, called the GT550, operates via a touchscreen and utilizes fingerprint biometrics for employee authentication.


Beyond the biometric and touchscreen functionality of the new solution, the GT550 offers Power-over-Ethernet for easier integration and additional authentication methods of proximity cards, bar code readers, magnetic stripe readers and PIN.

The system also supports audio and video communication enabling an additional clock authentication mode or as a communication tool that allows employees to email messages to administrators or managers through the systems employee self-service functionality. [end] 

Hooters Restaurants has implemented biometric fingerprint readers as a means to prevent loss in transaction and payroll fraud at the restaurant level.

Hooters contracted with DigitalPersona Inc. to install the provider’s U.are.U fingerprint readers with ITWercs Point-of-Sale software in restaurant units. Hooters employees use the readers to authenticate transactions and clock in and out for shifts.
