HRS to give overview on new system at Gatwick Airport

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Human recognition Systems (HRS) has announced it will be speaking at the Biometrics 2011 event at Queen Elizabeth II Conference Center in London on Oct. 19th to give attendees an overview on the recently installed biometric system at Gatwick Airport in London, according to a Security Park article.

Specifically, HRS will detail the trial and deployment of two systems of which the first, MFlow Track, was created in conjunction with biometric developer AOptix Technologies and the other, MFlow Journey, with developer Cognitec.

In Addition to HRS’ representative, aviation business unit manager Jim Slevin, Perry Hailey, Gatwick Airport’s head of technology, will also speak.

While biometric systems are nothing new at airports, the interest in HRS’ systems is garnering more interest as they are bringing iris scanning systems into programs that are designed to speed up passenger lines while also increasing security where most others depend on fingerprints or face recognition.

Vision-Box, a biometrics solutions provider, has come out with an automatic border control e-gate that supports multimodal biometric authentication.

This new e-gate is a thin system that contains vb i-match, a single sourced design that is modular and flexible and can be adapted to business requirements and infrastructure constraints that would otherwise disrupt passenger flow. It has the ability to cope with industry standards such as ICAO. The e-gate supports iris, fingerprint and facial biometrics.

M2SYS Technology has released an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) that enables the storage, search, retrieval, processing and editing of biometric data and subject records. The new system is built on multi-modal architecture, enabling users to combine the biometric matching of a fingerprint with that of an iris, face or palm print.

AOptix Technologies has integrated its iris recognition system into 34 automated e-Gates at the Gatwick Airport South Terminal.

The decision to bring in AOptix and its iris systems, called InSight VM, was identity management technology developer and integrator Human recognition Systems (HRS), who had developed and implemented the gates already in place at the airport running on their MFlow Track solution.
