DigitalPersona develops solution for mobile devices

DigitalPersona has announced the launch a solution designed for use in battery-powered mobile biometric identification devices. The new solution, part of DigitalPersona’s U.are.U line called U.are.U 5100 series of fingerprint modules and sensors.

The new sensors were designed with military and law enforcement applications in mind. But the technology may also have a market in civil ID programs and even potentially payment applications.

Among the features of the sensors and modules that DigitalPersona is touting are its low power consumption, compact size, landing lights and status LEDs, PIV standards compliance, durability and ease of use.

The features ares suited for those seeking such battery-powered mobile identification verification devices or modules to integrate into their own mobile devices are looking for. DigitalPersona will be demonstrating their new U.are.U 5100 series modules and sensors at the Biometrics 2011 Exhibition at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Center in London Oct. 19 - 20. [end]

The Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT) Alliance announced that austriamicrosystems has joined as a full member.

DigitalPersona adds facial recognition to authentication software

DigitalPersona Inc. released a new version of its DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise software that includes facial recognition as a method for authentication.

Facial recognition can now be combined with fingerprint biometrics, passwords, PINs, proximity cards, smart cards and OATH tokens for a multi-factor authentication solution. Policy creation and enforcement works through a client’s existing Active Directory infrastructure.
