DigitalPersona releases new solution as open source

DigitalPersona announced the release of its new fingerprint feature extraction technology called FingerJetFX. Unlike most releases from the company, however, the FingerJetFX solution has been release with an Open Source Edition in addition to its commercially available edition.

The open source edition opens up the source code for free to application developers and manufacturers looking to develop devices and software that needs to convert full fingerprint images to mathematical representations for more efficient storage or secure comparison.

One of the aspects of the new solution DigitalPersona officials are touting is the solution’s low memory requirement enabling it to be deployed on chips, fingerprint sensors, mobile devices, PCs or databases.

FingerprintJetFX, which exceeds PIV requirements for fingerprint template interoperability and in compliant with NIST’s MINEX Ongoing Test, is designed for use on any Linux, Android, Windows and Windows CE operating systems or can be run on embedded systems without an operating system. [end]

DigitalPersona adds facial recognition to authentication software

DigitalPersona Inc. released a new version of its DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise software that includes facial recognition as a method for authentication.

Facial recognition can now be combined with fingerprint biometrics, passwords, PINs, proximity cards, smart cards and OATH tokens for a multi-factor authentication solution. Policy creation and enforcement works through a client’s existing Active Directory infrastructure.
