Accurate Biometrics awarded FBI contract

Accurate Biometric announced it has been awarded a contract from the FBI for its Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).

The contract is a significant one for Accurate as it enables them to offer same-day FBI fingerprint submission services for criminal background checks to clients such as housing authorities, Indian reservations and banks.


Other areas and industries the contract opens up to Accurate include immigration and visa application processing for countries that honor the FBI Departmental Order report as well as adoption agencies.

While those without a channeling contract with the FBI are still able to submit requests for background checks without going through a licensed intermediary such as Accurate, the process must involve a direct request to the FBI, which can take up to 8 weeks to process. [end] 

The Department of Defense’s Biometrics Identity Management Agency (BIMA) has exercised the second option year with modifications on the Ideal Innovations Inc. (I-3) Technology Management task order under the Biometrics Operations and Support Services – Unrestricted (BOSS-U) contract. The cumulative value of the contract is now $30.5 million.
