AuthenTec announced it has acquired Seattle-based network security solutions developer PeerSec Networks. Among the segments of PeerSec that is included in the acquisition are the Matrix line of device-embedded security solutions, which consists of the MatrixSSL, MatrixSSH and MatrixDTLS, and the team behind those solutions.
AuthenTec executives see the acquisition expanding product offerings and enabling the company to accelerate product development in the embedded solutions industry.
Among the areas for opportunity is the machine-to-machine market where wired and wireless communication between a variety of devices increasingly needs better security to ensure only authorized devices are allowed access to sensitive information or services. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/thirdfactor-4.gif)
