Kentucky city auditor recommends biometric time clock solution

Thursday, December 8, 2011

Following issues with fraudulent employee time sheets at the Municipal Golf Course, Henderson, Kentucky’s city auditor, Mac Neel, has recommended the implementation of biometric-based time and attendance systems as part of his presentation of the city’s annual financial report, according to a Courier Press article.

While Neel acknowledged there would be a relatively significant upfront cost, ranging between $400 and $500 per time clock, he said the city could expect a 3% to 5% drop in labor costs as a result of the change.

The city Manager, Russell Sights, has acknowledged the positives of the potential system, but sees the need as low.

Additionally, Sights noted that there would be a need for significant investigation to determine how many locations an upgrade of the time clocks would include before any changes could be made.
