M2SYS fingerprint software integrated with medical marijuana dispensary management solution

M2SYS Technology has finalized an agreement with IMCL (Innovative Marijuana Caregiver Logistics), a provider of inventory and patient management solutions to the medical marijuana dispensary industry.

Through this agreement, IMCL has exclusive rights to integrate the Bio-Plugin fingerprint solution with its CA-MMPR patient registry product enabling their clients to securely control patient access to dispensary products. Bio-Plugin enables companies like IMCL to add a biometric identification component to their existing applications without a fingerprint software development kit.


LaserCard receives $2.9 million follow-on order for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia National ID Card Program

LaserCard Corp. announced a follow-on purchase order valued at $2.9 million to supply secure identity cards for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s national ID program. This brings the total orders received for this program to $4.7 million since April 1.

The $2.9 million order calls for the continued supply of optical smart cards to be issued via approximately 40 issuance offices in cities throughout Saudi Arabia. Since the inception of the Saudi National ID Card project in 2003, LaserCard has supplied approximately $16 million of cards, software, hardware and services for the program.


OKI upgrades software development kit

OKI Electric has made improvements to its Software Development Kit for fingerprint authentication. While the first SDK was only compatible with slide sensors, demand for touch sensors has been increasing for applications in door locks, access control and ID terminals aimed at users of all ages.

Responding to this demand, OKI developed the SDK to be used for touch sensors. Customers wanting to use touch sensors can now develop a fingerprint authentication system by preparing a touch sensor and the driver software to import the fingerprint image. OKI added a software interface to the new SDK to enable customers to easily connect their desired sensor of various types.


Wyse releases new OS for thin-client devices

The new Wyse Thin OS expands its secure roaming biometrics, reliability and multimedia capabilities. One specific new feature includes roaming biometrics and smart card support with IdentiPHI SAFsolution 5 which enables biometric and smart card users to not only roam from station to station but also securely access the same virtual environment regardless of which station they are using to connect.

Biometric access control expansion generates TSSI recruitment drive

Access control specialists TSSI claims it is quickly building a large UK network of certified access control installers especially those specializing in biometrics. It has signed up nine UK installers in the last 12 months following a two-fold demand for biometric entry systems during the same period.

Installers must complete training and certification program in order to become a TSSI certified partner. Access control installers that have recently joined TSSI’s program include Biometric Entry Systems, CTS Group, Infralink, Vistec Systems, and White Electrical Services.

Biometric Entry Systems will install and provide technical services for TSSI’s Verid+ range of fingerprint solutions. UK-based TSSI develops, manufactures and markets a range of fingerprint readers and OEM solutions for biometric security. Its Verid+ range of fingerprint readers combined with a suite of software options provides installers with the core components for a biometric entry system.

bioMETRX announces former Sequiam executives join company

Philippine government biometric voting system may be scraped

The House of Representatives of the Philippines may scrap the electronic voting system project former Speaker Jose de Venecia, after lawmakers discovered that the system failed in a recent dry run.

The test last month showed that the e-voting system failed to recognize the thumb prints of those whose data were inputted. Out of 50 prints submitted by House employees, the system recognized only 11. The system - which includes a biometrics machine and laptops for each of the 238 congressmen - was put in place in January during the term of de Venecia who was booted out early February by his colleagues.


LaserCard receives purchase order for Italian Foreign Resident ID Program

LaserCard Corp. has received a follow-on purchase order to supply more than $1 million worth of optical memory cards to the Italian Government to be used as Foreign Resident ID Cards.

The purchase order was received from LaserCard’s Rome-based Authorized Value Added Reseller, Laser Memory Card, which supplies and supports Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, the government’s prime contractor on the project. LaserCard has previously supplied approximately $18 million worth of optical memory cards and secure encoders for both the Italian Citizen and Foreign Resident ID Card programs.


bioMETRX files for new patents on secure storage items

bioMETRX has filed five new patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The products covered by the filings include tool storage chests, liquor cabinets, gun display cases, portable luggage and mailboxes with added biometric locking and secure access.

The company currently owns several patents integrating biometrics into padlocks, thermostats and garage door openers, as well as the use of biometrics as is applied to securing and retrieving electronic medical records.
