BioPay extends new products towards consumers without banks

BioPay Paycheck Secure, a developer of biometric solutions for identifying individuals during financial transactions, has announced that it is entering partnerships with the intention of reaching out to customers who prefer to carry out financial transactions in institutions like grocery stores rather than banks. Two new product offerings aimed at these consumers are walk-in bill pay and prepaid debit.

Cross Match approved for TWIC pilot

Cross Match Technologies, a developer of biometric products, has had their mobile handheld fingerprint reader, Be.U Mobile, approved through the Transportation and Security Administration’s evaluation of products to qualify for the Transportation Worker Identification Credential pilot program.

Ports around the U.S. will use the list of products that pass the TSA evaluation for purchasing and implementing for biometric access control. The pilot tests fro the TWIC program will be carried out at seven different locations. [end] 

Lumidigm taps Analogics for Indian distribution

Lumidigm, a U.S.-based developer of biometric technologies, has struck up a distribution deal with Analogics Tech India, an India-based manufacturer of handheld terminals, for distribution in the region.

Analogics has been looking to partner with a biometric vendor. The company has been looking for a mobile biometric sensor that can handle some of India’s rougher terrains. Analogics evaluated Lumidigm’s sensors in a number of scenarios including rural banking, school attendance, food rationing and industrial access control. [end] 

Ultimaco announces fingerprint protected data security

Ultimaco, a UK-based data security company, has announced that their data security solution, SafeGuard Enterprise 5.35, will now combine their disk encryption with fingerprint authentication from computer company Lenovo.

This will give users a choice between fingerprint and password access control. The fingerprint sensors themselves are provided by either AuthenTec or UPEK, both fingerprint technology developers. SafeGuard Enterprise 5.35 is designed for operation with Microsoft Windows machines. [end] 

BIO-key announces next WEB-key generation

BIO-key International, a developer of biometric technologies, has announced the release of the next version of their Web-based fingerprint authentication biometric solution, WEB-key 3.1.

The new software enables users to access any application by using fingerprint biometrics. WEB-key was first developed by BIO-key in 2001. [end] 

Multi-modal biometrics to help route out voter fraud in Bangladesh

Neurotechnology, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced they have been selected by the Bangladesh Army to provide the country with its MegaMatcher software development kit, a multi-modal biometric technology, to help identify duplicate registrations in the voter registry.

The SDK is to become part of the Bangladesh Voter Registration Project that has already registered more than 80 million voters using face and fingerprint technology.

Precise receives additional order from Swisscom

Precise Biometrics AB, a Swedish developer of biometric technologies, has reported an order they received from Switzerland-based telecommunications group Swisscom totaling nearly $300,000.

Swisscom has been using Precise products and services since 2006. This new order consists of keyboards with installed fingerprint sensors as well as licenses for Precise’s Biomatch software for authenticating users. [end] 

TSA tests bar code ID technology

The Transportation Security Administration tested a bar code ID technology at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport, according to a Security Director News report.

The system printed a two-dimensional bar code on passengers’ boarding pass. Stored in the encrypted bar code is an image, such as a fingerprint, and other documentation such as driver license or passport information.

M2SYS technology selected by InvoTech
