Assessments play an important part in personalizing and deepening the impact of our workshops, 1:1 coaching, and team coaching programs. In this role, you will own relationships with assessment providers and lead the on-going design of offerings that maximize the impact of these tools. Beyond being an expert coach yourself, you will design and develop programs and experiences that our team of coaches will leverage. Success in this role requires strong skills in coaching, training, program design, and facilitation along with deep expertise in assessments.

Working at Third Factor delivers:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits (health and dental)
  • Flexible work location and a high degree of autonomy

  • Exceptional colleagues (check out our incredible team here)

About the “Director of Assessments and Team Coaching” Role

As Director of Assessments and Team Coaching, you will take ownership of two key tools: The Attentional and Interpersonal Style Inventory (TAIS) and The Resiliency Map. The TAIS is central to our work with Olympic and Paralympic athletes and teams, corporate executive teams, and serves as a cornerstone of the Queen’s Leadership Program at the Smith School of Business. The Resiliency Map plays a key role in our Resilience Practice, helping individuals become more aware of the demands they face and the assets they can draw on to navigate them.

In this role, you will become an expert in these tools – both in intellectually understanding them, and in using them to drive deeper insight and conversations in 1:1 and team coaching engagements. You will ensure their seamless integration into our key offerings and support our coaches and facilitators in developing their capabilities.

At the same time, you’ll keep one eye on industry trends, continuously evaluating assessments to ensure we are leveraging the most effective tools available.

Specifically, you will:

  • Develop deep expertise in the TAIS and Resiliency Map, while continuously evaluating other assessment tools to ensure we use the best available.
  • Work with our incredible coaches and trainers to evaluate and develop their capabilities equipping them to deliver to rave reviews.
  • Deliver approximately 40 days of coaching / workshops / keynotes per year to stay closely connected to our learners and their experience.
  • Deepen our relationship with our assessment partners, shaping tool development to better support our clients.
  • Support our sales team in growing revenue – joining sales calls as a subject-matter expert (SME) and working with marketing to create compelling sales collateral.
  • Collaborate with the Practice Leads to design and refine our product offerings – including speeches, workshops, webinars, virtual learning journeys, asynchronous video, and more – ensuring seamless integration of assessments to meet client needs.

You’ll report into our CLO, Peggy Baumgartner, and have a unique chance to work along-side and learn from experienced practitioners in the field, including Dane Jensen, Dr. Peter Jensen, Garry Watanabe, and the athletes and teams we work with in elite sport. The successful candidate will be passionate about performance psychology and collaboration, know a lot and be willing to learn.

What will you need to be successful?

Your success at Third Factor will be determined first and foremost by your attitude – and that’s what we look for in hiring. Show us that you are smart, organized, and motivated. We work with some of the most committed people on Earth – Olympic athletes and top executives – and have a high bar in everything we do. If you’re going to enjoy this job, you need to have a high bar too.

Beyond attitude, the successful candidate should have:

  • Drive – your ambition and passion will drive the growth of our offers.
  • Expertise in assessment tools – deep expertise with tools that build self-awareness is essential. You will excel at analyzing data and leveraging insights to inform your coaching style. Expertise with TAIS is a strong asset and preference will be given to people already certified in TAIS.
  • Masterful coaching skills – skilled at coaching participants, often senior leaders, both in-person and virtually, and coaching other coaches.
  • Adult learning design experience – proven ability to create engaging, intelligent, and highly practical learning modules and materials.
  • Strong facilitation skills – both virtually and in-person.
  • A desire to be a team player – working with sales as an SME on client calls and bringing trainers up to speed on new content and working with Operations to ensure our offers run smoothly.
  • Curiosity and a developmental bias – pushing yourself to get better every day and helping those around you do the same.
  • A professional, productive space at home with strong internet that will allow you to coach, meet, and deliver virtually.
  • High standards – our culture prioritizes excellence over ‘get it done quick’ and believes in extensive feedback.
  • Personal responsibility, integrity, and a great personality – we have a strict no asshole rule in place.

Location

You will predominantly work from your home office so having a dedicated space to work and take Zoom calls without interruption is vital. A few notes:

  • Client travel – You should expect to travel to client sites across North America to deliver client workshops, seminars, etc. on a semi-regular basis. Easy access to an International Airport will be vital.
  • Internal travel – We come together to work as a team quarterly, in Toronto, to deepen relationships, share experiences and work on strategic projects.
